🌟 From “What Is Wrong With You?” to “What’s Going On Here?” — A Shift Toward Understanding By Rashmi Salhotra

In a recent reflection, leadership coach and facilitator Rashmi Salhotra shared a candid insight into a pattern many of us can relate to: the quick, often unconscious response when things don’t go as we expect — the instinctive, “What is wrong with you?”

Rashmi humorously notes how this phrase, once directed at her children in moments of frustration, became a family joke. But soon, she recognized that it wasn’t limited to parenting. That same reaction surfaced everywhere:

✅ At the colleague who missed a deadline
✅ At the slow cashier
✅ At politicians, systems, even the unreliable internet
✅ At anyone or anything that didn’t meet her internal standards

What began as light-hearted self-awareness became a deeper reflection on how this judgment reflex had become exhausting — and rarely helpful. As Rashmi puts it, “The universe has responded. Every time. With a giant middle finger.”

💡 The shift?
Rashmi chose to replace “What is wrong with you?” with “What’s going on here?”
👉 Same curiosity
👉 Less judgment
👉 More room for understanding, empathy, and surprise

Her story invites us all to reflect:
What is your version of “What is wrong with you?” And how might a small shift in question transform how you engage with the world?
