Hare Psychopathy Checklist (Original) (PCL-22)

What is the PCL‑22?

The Original Hare Psychopathy Checklist (PCL‑22) is a psychological screening tool created in the 1970s by Dr. Robert D. Hare. It measures 22 personality traits and behaviors—such as superficial charm, pathological lying, lack of empathy, impulsivity, and antisocial tendencies—to assess possible psychopathic characteristics.
Though later succeeded by the widely used 20-item PCL‑R, the PCL‑22 remains a valuable instrument for both research and clinical self-screening.
