Driving Innovation at the Grassroots: MSME Ideathon at Suryodaya College, Nagpur

As part of the Nagpur NEXT Program, an impactful MSME Ideathon – In-Campus Innovation Challenge was successfully conducted in collaboration with Suryodaya College of Engineering & Technology, in association with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC).

The ideathon served as a dynamic platform for students to engage with real-world challenges faced by Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Moving beyond traditional classroom learning, participants were encouraged to think critically, innovate, and develop practical, solution-oriented approaches.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 30 students, forming 10 teams. Each team worked diligently to understand problem statements, brainstorm ideas, and develop viable solutions. The students then presented their concepts to a panel of experts, showcasing their creativity, analytical thinking, and entrepreneurial mindset.

The ideathon followed a well-structured approach designed to guide participants through the innovation process:

• Understanding MSME problem statements
• Ideation and solution development
• Final presentations evaluated by experts

It was inspiring to observe how students translated complex industry challenges into structured and actionable solutions. Their ability to combine technical knowledge with innovative thinking reflected the growing potential of young minds to contribute meaningfully to the MSME sector.

The event concluded with a valedictory session and prize distribution ceremony, where the top three teams were recognized for their outstanding ideas and efforts. The recognition not only celebrated innovation but also motivated participants to continue exploring entrepreneurial pathways.

Nagpur NEXT extended its sincere appreciation to the leadership and faculty of Suryodaya College for their unwavering support in making the event a success. Special acknowledgment was also given to the faculty coordinators and the student organizing team for their seamless planning and execution.
