IndiVillage’s Tech Her Forward: Empowering Girls to Own Their Digital Identity

In a recent Tech Her Forward session, many of the participating girls were creating a Gmail account for the very first time. When the facilitator asked, “Is 12345678 a strong password?” the room erupted in laughter until they realized just how common and risky such passwords are.

This moment became the perfect introduction to the LOCK method Length, Original, Complex, Keep Unique. One by one, the girls began setting strong passwords, smiling as they took their first steps toward securing their digital spaces.

The session went beyond creating accounts. It was about learning to own their digital identity safely, confidently, and responsibly. Participants left with practical knowledge and the confidence to navigate the online world securely.

The initiative was made possible through a collaborative effort between Fold Labs, QUEST Alliance, CGI, IndiVillage Tech Solutions, Sophia Akash Foundation (CIO), Google, Machani Group, and Vidhyalay Udhyam Association – School Enterprise Network, all working together to advance digital literacy and empowerment for young girls.

This program reinforces the importance of digital safety, STEM education, and internet awareness, ensuring the next generation of girls is equipped to thrive online.
