Brainstorming Techniques
Several techniques can be used to facilitate brainstorming sessions, depending on the desired outcome or problem at hand. Here are a few commonly used techniques:
1.Traditional Brainstorming
Traditional brainstorming involves a group of individuals coming together to generate ideas through spontaneous and open-ended discussions. Participants can build upon each other’s ideas and think freely without constraints.
2.Brainwriting: Brainwriting is a written form of brainstorming where participants write down their ideas individually on paper before sharing them with the group. This method allows for simultaneous idea generation and reduces the dominance of vocal participants.
3. Mind Mapping: Mind mapping involves creating a graphical representation of ideas and their relationships. By mapping out ideas visually, mind mapping helps in identifying connections and generating new associations.
4. Reverse Brainstorming: Reverse brainstorming involves approaching the problem from an opposite perspective. Instead of generating solutions, participants brainstorm and generate ideas on how to cause the problem. Then, these negative ideas can be reversed to identify potential solutions.
5. SCAMPER: SCAMPER is an acronym for Substitute, Combine, Adapt, Modify/Magnify/Minify, Put to another use, Eliminate, and Reverse. This technique prompts participants to explore different ideas and possibilities by applying these different actions to the problem at hand.
