• Kurtosis – The HR Outlier Detector!

      Not all averages tell the truth. Sometimes, a few extreme values can distort the story. That’s where Kurtosis comes in.

      It tells us whether our data is:

      * Leptokurtic (>3): Sharp peak, heavy tails → many outliers.

      * Mesokurtic (=3): Normal bell curve → balanced data.

      * Platykurtic (<3): Flatter curve → fewer extremes.

      HR Use Case:

      When analyzing absenteeism, Kurtosis helps answer:

      * Is the issue caused by a few employees with very high absences?

      * Or is absenteeism spread evenly across the workforce?

      With Kurtosis, HR can see beyond the average and uncover whether hidden outliers are shaping employee data.
