OpenAI has introduced memory controls for ChatGPT users, allowing them to instruct the AI to remember specific details or forget certain information across conversations. Users can opt to enable or disable memory features, view, delete, or clear memories as desired. While memories could enhance the AI’s responses, OpenAI assures privacy by not sharing memories with other GPT models or builders. Additionally, a new Temporary Chat feature offers a privacy-preserving experience by ensuring ChatGPT doesn’t retain previous conversations or access memories, although OpenAI may retain temporary chat data for safety purposes for up to 30 days.
