Recent findings from a study conducted by #NIMHANS, Department of Epidemiology shed light on the alarming #health risks faced by app-based #cab #drivers in Bengaluru. The research, conducted underscores the detrimental impact of poor working conditions on their #wellbeing.
The Key findings reveal that these drivers, due to irregular working hours and the absence of social security, are highly #susceptible to non-communicable diseases (#NCDs) such as diabetes, heart disease, and hypertension. Factors such as unhealthy diets, physical inactivity, and chronic stress exacerbate these risks, posing a significant public health challenge.
At Arogya World, we are committed to preventing NCDs, and I find these results deeply concerning yet compelling. They underscore the urgent need for comprehensive policies that prioritize the health and well-being of our cab drivers. This includes advocating for #legislation mandating NCD #prevention programs, access to basic occupational health services, and ensuring social security provisions for these essential workers.
It’s imperative that we act swiftly to protect those who keep our cities moving. By raising #awareness and driving policy change, we can create #healthier #environment for all. Let’s work together to ensure that our cab drivers receive the support they need to lead healthier lives.
