This insightful session, organized by the Global HR Community (GHRC) and led by Dr. Anu Binny, focused on applying Jeanne Liedtka’s Design Thinking methodology to HR practices. Held on June 21, 2025, the webinar offered a comprehensive exploration of how HR professionals can embrace innovation and lead meaningful change within their organizations.

The session began with a walkthrough of GHRC’s digital platform features, followed by an introduction to the community and upcoming initiatives. Participants shared their backgrounds, setting a collaborative tone for the event.

Key discussions included the use of HR tools in startups, challenges in retention, and a preview of future community offerings. Dr. Anu Binny introduced the foundational elements of design thinking and emphasized its accessibility for HR professionals.

Drawing from Liedtka’s framework, Dr. Anu explained innovation as a people-centric, iterative process. The session included a practical case study focused on patient wait times at an Apache Indian reservation, where participants brainstormed impactful solutions. Emphasis was placed on prototyping and aligning innovation with human needs rather than technology alone.

Dr. Anu also highlighted case studies addressing Gen Z’s workplace expectations, including mental health, digital fatigue, and the need for hybrid work models. Participants contributed creative ideas for engaging Gen Z in meaningful ways.

The session concluded with a live design thinking workshop where attendees created real-time HR solutions using user-centric and resource-efficient methods. This hands-on experience helped demystify the design thinking process and demonstrated its practical relevance in solving HR challenges.
