Job Summary:
The Assistant General Manager – Industrial Relations & Human Resources will be responsible for managing and overseeing the industrial relations and HR functions of the company. This role requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of labor laws, HR practices, and employee relations. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and the ability to foster a positive work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Industrial Relations:
- Develop and implement industrial relations strategies to maintain a harmonious work environment.
- Handle negotiations, grievances, and disputes with unions and employee representatives.
- Ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations.
- Manage collective bargaining agreements and maintain positive union relations.
- Human Resources Management:
- Oversee the HR function, including recruitment, onboarding, training, performance management, and employee development.
- Develop and implement HR policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all HR-related legal requirements.
- Promote a positive workplace culture and employee engagement.
- Employee Relations:
- Address employee concerns and grievances in a timely and effective manner.
- Conduct investigations into employee complaints and resolve issues fairly and impartially.
- Foster open communication between management and employees.
- Implement employee recognition and reward programs.
- Strategic HR Planning:
- Collaborate with senior management to develop and implement HR strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Analyze HR metrics and provide insights to support decision-making.
- Identify and address HR-related risks and opportunities.
- Training and Development:
- Design and deliver training programs to enhance employee skills and knowledge.
- Implement leadership development initiatives.
- Promote continuous learning and development within the organization.
- Compliance and Reporting:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant labor laws and HR regulations.
- Prepare and submit required reports to government authorities and senior management.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date HR records.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business Administration, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 20 years of experience in industrial relations and human resources, with at least 5 years heading the HR function for a similar-sized company.
- Strong knowledge of labor laws, industrial relations practices, and HR management.
- Proven experience in managing union relations and collective bargaining.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Proficient in HR software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge in HR Technology and Data Science: Proficient in leveraging HR technology solutions and data science techniques to optimize HR functions and drive data-driven decision making.
