Zerodha and Upstox are 2 of the most incredible companies in the Indian start up ecosystem, and both these companies have engaged in a business war to emerge as market leaders in the Indian stock broking category. but you know what??? you will shocked to know that, Upstox inspite of raising almost 400crores in capital, inspite spending 145 crores in IPL ads, they stood at a loss of 71.67 crores in FY21. But in the exact same year, Zerodha, without raising a single penny through investors and without spending a single penny on marketing they have gone way ahead of Upstox and registered a profit of 1122cr!!! The question is, what is so special about zerodha that they were to able beat their competition by such a huge margin inspite of the competition having 400 crores in investment?? What was and is zerodha’s strategy that is making them the most invisible player in the industry? and most importantly, as students of business what are the lessons that we need to learn from this incredible company called Zerodha?
