Know Your Member: Shivakumar Venkateswaran
Shivakumar Venkateswaran brings nearly three decades of corporate experience across diverse sectors, including Engineering, Textiles/Apparel/Brands & Retail, Education, and Consulting. He has held leadership roles in renowned organizations such as IIM Bangalore, Future Group, Indian School of Business, Arvind Limited, Wal-Mart, and Gap International Sourcing, among others. A postgraduate from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, he began his career at Ion Exchange Ltd.
Throughout his career, Shivakumar has managed a wide range of HR and business assignments, including international retail and supply chain compliance, HR leadership at geographic and corporate levels, industrial relations, and HR systems redesign. He has also taken on business roles, leading cross-functional teams and driving business process reengineering and project management initiatives.
Passionate about organizational culture, he has been instrumental in integrating different functions under cohesive cultural frameworks. His expertise lies in driving innovation, digital transformation, and employee-centric HR strategies. From 2012 to 2022, he served as the Chief Human Resources Officer at IIM Bangalore, shaping progressive HR policies and practices to support the institute’s mission. He continues to provide strategic HR and legal consulting to the institute.
Currently, he serves as the Chief Human Resources Officer at USDC Global, an emerging EdTech start-up in Bangalore, where he is focused on fostering people development and supporting the growth of the organization.
