Crisis-Stay Cool & Positive – Move On
As an HR Leader, I handle two major responsibilities 1) Hiring best talent for the organizations, onboard them smoothly and provide best employee experience for them to cherish 2) On the other hand, I was constrained to handle off boarding process (as well) of few employees due to layoffs, breach of code conduct/non-compliance/integrity issues caused due to background check failures/moon lighting etc., While the conversations involved with joining process are pleasant & memorable, while unpleasant conversations on the eve of involuntary separation process are painful & taxing. Now that brings the important aspect of handling the crisis caused due to loss of job, failures, strained relationships, human-loss etc, Please read on:
Life is roller coaster! And sometimes the breaks get jammed due to crisis. What does one do when stuck in a situation that is taking him/her nowhere or color the future with pessimism? The answer is simple but the choice is tough. Get Off, Accept the Reality-Stay Positive-Stay Focused and Move on. Experts say this is ground rule in dealing such situations. Crisis caused due to loss of job, financial crisis, relationships, human-loss etc., are tough to deal with. However, people who have weathered such storms usually say that the crisis/loss was the best thing that happened to them as it created an opportunity to get off their treadmill of activities and to do soul searching towards creating better & happier future. Further it has provided non-bridged platform to develop supporting systems & contingency measures to deal such occasions in future.
Crisis/Loss tests the strength of character, on how one is resilient in such times compared to good times. Success is like a fire; however, it is equally true that it is the adversity brings personal evolvement & growth. It further gives an opportunity to work out on the limitations and awaken dormant faculties, talents and discover inner strength to become a strong person than one ever dreamed of him/herself. One has to have a strong sense of optimism and self-belief that world does not end-up with a crisis/loss. People with strong optimism will look forward for the new doors those are getting opened for them and do not brood over the doors those were closed. They remain cool, demonstrate the willingness to accept the gnawing changes and discard the old baggage.
MS Dhoni who is known for his calm and composed demeanor known for handling the defeats with dignity. He shares with the team to focus more on means & process to limping back to normalcy, learn & move on to create a better next match experience.
The facts remains that one has to go through the crisis in one’s journey, sooner or later and how will one responds determines the outcomes. Accept It – Stay Cool – Stay Positive – Stay Focused and Keep Working. Do not take life seriously but take it sincerely. You never know, after a bumpy road you may find a hill station for celebrations.
